I just watched the newest Rambo movie today, it was fucking brilliant. Stunning scenery, awesome action and Stallone was actually quite good in it, and of course it was full of gore
I give it a 8.5/10 -------------------- You don't need a parachute to skydive, you need a paracute to skydive twice.

And as usual, Stallone's mumbling melts perfectly in. Just finished watching The Bankjob, a movie which is based on a true story that occured in England at the 70's. You'll be surprised what you'll find in a bank vault. Also, I've watched Iron Man, a big yay for the spectacular animations! I wonder if there's already some kind of an Iron Man suit out there waiting to be mass-produced in about 20-30 years or so, that would be brilliantly scary. |

I don't really go to movies while they are in theaters since it is generally cheaper to buy them on DVD when they are released that the cost of the ticket, and since I can cook before I put the disk in, the grub is hella lot better than stale popcorn.
The one movie I watched recently and really liked was "Good Luck and Good Night", movie about what the media went through to expose corruption, paranoia and just general wrong doing of the government when they had it coming. It made me wish for that again, instead of "reporters" who lob questions pre-approved by the white house to a C- Massachusetts born cowboy. I'm also a fan of small budget "indie" files like "Freedom Downtime" and "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price", simply because I feel more people should do more to get the word out. Oh, and also "Bruce Campbell vs Army of Darkness"...praise Ash! -------------------- Fargo Hack Space

The Corporation, a documentary I checked out from the local library.
Summary: "In this acclaimed documentary from the co-director of Manufacturing Consent: Noam Chomsky and the Media, 40 corporate insiders and critics - including Michael Moore, Noam Chomsky, No Logo author Naomi Klein and Nobel Prize-winning economist Milton Friedman - explore the nature and spectacular rise of the most pervasive institution of our time. Combining analysis with footage from advertising, television news and industrial films, The Corporation is an entertaining and provocative look at the inner workings, curious history, controversial impacts and possible futures of the modern global conglomerate. From the front of the dvd case: "starring 7 ceos 3 vps 2 whistleblowers 1 broker 1 spy and 1 really big mess special guest star: The FBI's top consultant on psychopaths" *** It delivers, in that way that makes you question everything you understand about a subject, and wonder how you got so uninformed. It's pretty long, so watch it in chunks unless you have no kids. Follow it with Office Space for much-needed laffs. -------------------- |

g/f and I watched Planet of the Apes (original, thx) 'cuz she hadn't seen it before. Which is always cool, but what I'm looking forward to is watching the third sequel soon: Escape From the Planet of the Apes (1971)
![]() The article says it's considered the best of the sequels, and has the ape characters jumping through time to the 20th century, so we get to see how the whole "apes dominating a ruined earth" thing came about. Sounds like fun. |

![]() I saw Son of Rambow last night, a comedy-drama about some kids remaking the first Rambo film on their own in the early '80s, and liked it a lot. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Son_of_Rambow |

@punkle. The Corporation is a good'un. That has Naomi Klein in it quite a bit, kicking ass and taking names (intellectually of course) like usual.
I'm always the one at the video store who's like "Look at this cool documentary lets get this or this art film about indians etc." and everyone always like "Noooo! Weak! Lame! Ben Stiller! Will Ferrell!". I'm surrounded by cave men I tell you. -------------------- [nethertech studioz - nt3ch.biz]

About 10 mins of Triumph of the Nerds focusing on the Altair/beginning of Apple/Homebrew Club era with interviews from Gates, Jobs, Wozniak and others
This movie always give me a 3-hour boner. As cool as every new gadget that comes out in personal computing may be, I just don't find anything as interesting and as exciting as the beginnings of the personal computer itself. Youtube Video ->

...and when you're finally free on the weekend and decide to watch a western (which I haven't done for years, until this one), 3:10 to Yuma, you end up with a movie filled with scenes which one would believe that a 3 year old had the last word on puzzling 'em up. Are they giving away "anyone can be a director" donation money these days?

Charlie Wilson's War. Not a huge Tom Hanks fan, but it was a really good movie. Phillip Seymore Hoffman ftw!!!
The Audition. Since some of you seem to be into Asian Horror, you should check that one out. It's one of those movies that makes you cringe in pain just watching it. Oldboy is one of my favorites as well. I like subjecting new people at my house with that movie. They all end up cursing at me.....I don't know why. Warriors of Heaven and Earth is a good movie as well. Go see it. I love movies with an antagonist that you can't help hating. Good stuff. -------------------- facilis descensus Averno

The Rocker : Only funny for the first 15 mins because I am a fan of The Office.
Death Race : Mindless, testosterone driven carnage that was actually fun to watch for an hour and a half. (SPOILER ALERT) Bangkok Dangerous : Horrible movie. Absolutely hated it... Even Nicholas Cage hated it so much he an hero'd at the end of the movie. -------------------- I am a man,

The Elephant man by david lynch. It's the true account of Joseph Merrick who suffered from elephantitus. Lynch has some really spectacular makeup artists and he uses them to their potential to give what looks like an accurate depiction of Merrick's deformity. I recommend it, It's Lynch to the T with his grimey cinematography style and eerie atmosphere of sound.

I'm surrounded by cave men I tell you. When I went to see Black Christmas a few years back this kid was sitting by me. Every time someone would get stabbed or impaled he would scream, "YOU DON'T SEE THAT SHIT ON T.V.!!!!" I lollerskated all the way to the bank for the rest of the night. -------------------- ![]() |

DaYuM brought this cool movie, Chak De India home from India and we just watched it. The film is about the national Indian girls' field hockey team. It's mostly in Hindi, but there are English subtitles. Easy findable, check it out. |

A movie I saw when picking up a couple of bookcases is "Where in the World is Osama Bin Ladin" by Morgan Spurlock, the guy who did "Super Size Me".
It was rather enjoyable, give a look at how real people over there live and act, not the ones shown on FOX and CNN. -------------------- Fargo Hack Space
